If you did not read the About Me or Home pages, then you probably don’t know that I am a huge football fan… or how Americans would address it – soccer. Well, news flash – I am a huge fan of Manchester United. It’s the only club in the world that I am really passionate about. Ever since my kindergarten days, I was watching Manchester United games. I adored Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Needless to say, they were my childhood idols. Even though I tried playing football, with my 2 left feet I could not make it past the amateurs.
Luckily, I don’t need any skill to watch games so I just stuck to that. Today, I’d like to share with you the frustrations I had while watching the second leg of Europa League quarterfinal matchup. We were playing against a strong Belgian side Anderlecht. The first leg was nothing special (we played in Belgium) but we managed to get a solid 1-1 result.
Today at Old Trafford, things started amazingly well for us with Mikitharyan scoring the first goal. Unfortunately, after that our game totally crashed and we ended up conceding a silly goal. After the regular 90 minutes, the score was the same (1:1) like the first leg which meant we’re up for extra time.
The first half of extra time wasn’t anything special. Luckily, our players started playing a bit better in the second extra time half and their efforts were awarded a goal from Rashford. It was not the best of chances but Rashford took it perfectly after a couple of bad misses earlier.
After all, I’m still satisfied with us qualifying for the semi-finals. Hopefully, we’ll get that one last trophy we’re missing from our collection… and of course, automatic qualification to Champions League is just the icing on the cake!
