Private photo tours are the fastest track to learning, and a wonderful investment for the passionate photographer. I offer lessons tailored to beginners as well as professional level photographers looking to improve their skills.

For beginners, I cover step by step instruction in the field to help you learn to capture fantastic images on your own. Training will cover everything necessary, such as balancing exposure, metering, composition, the study of light, long exposure techniques (ND filters), HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the field techniques. This instruction is done on location in some of the most exciting seascape locations which depend on season, weather, and your preference.

You will learn during photographic workshops: how to get those “Wow!”. How to use ISO speeds, aperture, shutter speed and read the histogram. Composition – learn the rules and then how and when to break them. Use of neutral-density and split-density (grad) filters. Learn the value of patience and how to read the weather.

Some favorite places: *
- Durdle Door
- Kimmeridge
- Mupe Rocks
- Swanage
- Bournemouth
- Lyme Regis
- … and many other locations.
* Locations are customized based on client’s specific needs and desires.

Equipment needed:
- Although it does not matter what equipment you have, you will get the most out of it if your camera has manual settings and shoots RAW and the ability to connect a cable shutter release.
- Preferably wide-angle lenses.
- Decent tripod. Avoid anything that is cheap. It should be able to remain sturdy and keeping the camera steady on a windy day.
- A set of ND and neutral density graduated filters.
- Cable release.
- Spare camera batteries.
- Tough and comfortable hiking boots will be an advantage. You should be capable of walking over uneven ground with a backpack and tripod. The terrain is often very slippery.
- Lens cloths or kitchen towel though.
